On August 12, 2026, the Lavender Museum Luberon celebrates lavender in the heart of summer with “Provence Lavender Celebration Day”. The programme highlights Provençal traditions, harvesting gestures and the magic of distillation. Visitors enjoy an immersive Luberon experience in a must-visit museum in Provence — the perfect answer to “What to do in the Luberon?”. Just minutes from Gordes and close to Avignon, in the Vaucluse, this celebration welcomes all ages for a day filled with scents, know-how and summer memories.
In Provence, lavender has always been celebrated to the rhythm of the farming calendar. In Sault, the lavender festival traditionally took place around the weekend of August 15, as the harvest comes to an end. It’s also at this time that the price of essential oil can be set more accurately, as it depends on the real production and the quality obtained. A reminder that lavender is more than a postcard — it tells the story of a trade, a season and living know-how.
Lavender is also celebrated through the gesture. Watch a traditional hand-cutting demonstration with a sickle, just like in the old days. The explanations are easy to follow, the rhythm is lively, and everyone leaves with a freshly cut bunch of lavandin — a key moment of “Provence Lavender Celebration Day”, full of tradition and sharing.
Times: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
From opening time, plan your day your way: self-guided museum visit, workshops, distillation, the harvest demonstration and a gourmet break. The programme suits every pace, mixing quick discoveries with more in-depth moments.
