Mother’s Day 2026: a family visit to the Lavender Museum Luberon on Sunday, May 31

This Sunday, May 31, 2026, celebrate Mother’s Day at the Lavender Museum Luberon!

For this special day dedicated to mums, free admission is offered to all mums. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy a family visit in the Luberon and discover Provence’s iconic flower: the fine lavender.

Mother’s Day 2026: a family visit to the Lavender Museum Luberon on Sunday, May 31

  • A rich and accessible visit answering the big questions about lavender: which lavender grows in Provence, which varieties are found in gardens, where to admire lavender fields, and the differences in scent and uses between fine lavender and lavandin.

  • An in-depth discovery of the history of lavender in Provence, its close link with distillation, essential oil extraction methods, and harvesting techniques — from past to present.

  • A visual immersion with a film screening that reveals the traditional distillation of mountain fine lavender, carried out on the family estate of Château du Bois at 1,100 metres altitude on the Albion Plateau.

  • A self-paced audio-guided tour to explore the exhibition room freely and a unique collection of more than 350 authentic objects linked to distillation and lavender growing: historic stills, the Garnier wheel, retorts and traditional outfits. The audio guide is available in French, English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Czech, Dutch and Russian.

  • A visit designed with children in mind: fun quizzes, a “lavender grower” diploma, a drawing area and digital game tables — for a true family discovery in the Luberon.

  • A sensory experience in the museum shop around essential oils, hydrolats and fragrances made with AOP fine lavender, rooted in local artisan know-how passed down since 1890 — with a 20% discount for museum visitors.

An original idea for a day out in Provence to celebrate Mother’s Day in a landmark of Provençal heritage.
